Tom Toles

A Pulitzer Prize winner in editorial cartooning, Tom Toles is currently the editorial cartoonist at The Washington Post. His work appears in more than 200 newspapers throughout the country. Frequently called upon by the media to comment in the wake of the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo in France, Toles as recently appeared on “Morning Joe” and the “PBS NewsHour.”

Toles has received numerous awards for his work, including the National Cartoonist Society’s Editorial Cartoon Award in 2003, the 2011 Herblock Prize, and the 1990 Pulitzer Prize in editorial cartooning. He was a finalist for the Pulitzer in 1985 and 1996.

Prior to joining The Washington Post in 2002, Toles worked for The Buffalo Courier-Express and then The Buffalo News. His political cartoons have been gathered into several collections, including NOW Who Do We Blame? and My Elected Representatives Went to Washington.

Toles is a graduate of the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.
