Timothy Roemer

Timothy Roemer, a former six-term U.S. representative for Indiana’s 3rd congressional district, served as the U.S. ambassador to India from 2009 to 2011. Currently, he serves as senior strategic adviser for Issue One’s Reformers Caucus, a group that includes more than 60 Republican and Democratic former members of Congress and governors. The group’s goal is to elevate the public conversation and offer solutions to reform big money’s dominance of U.S. politics.Roemer has served as a distinguished scholar at George Mason University and has taught at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics. He is a member of the Aspen Institute’s US-India Strategic Dialogue, the Center for American Policy’s US-India 2020 Advisory Council, and worked on the Bipartisan Policy report 9/11 Commission – Ten Years Later. He has also served as president of the Center for National Policy, as well as on the Washington Institute’s Presidential Task Force on Combating the Ideology of Radical Extremism; the 21st Century National Parks Commission; the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism; and the 9/11 FBI Review Commission and several Blue Ribbon national panels.Roemer earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at San Diego and master’s and doctoral degrees in American government from the University of Notre Dame.
