Dr. G. Mahmoud Eboo

Dr. Mahmoud Eboo is the President of His Highness Prince Aga Khan Shia Imami Ismaili Council for the United States, Australia & New Zealand. In this (voluntary) capacity, Dr. Eboo oversees the social and administrative governance of the Ismaili Muslim community in these countries, under the guidance of His Highness the Aga Khan. He has been a member of the institutional leadership of the Ismaili community for the past 20 years. Dr. Eboo was a valuable participant in the Chautauqua Interfaith Conference in London in mid-November 2005, as well as a significant contributor to the Chautauqua Media and Religion Roundtable Conversation with journalists held at the Harvard Club in New York City this past fall. Born in Kenya and educated at Harrow School in England, Dr. Eboo obtained a B.Sc in Materials Technology and subsequently a Ph.D. in Laser Engineering from Imperial College, London University. He moved from England to the United States in 1983 where he co-founded Quantum Laser, a company specializing in the manufacture, repair and refurbishment of gas turbine airfoils for the aviation and power generation industries. He sold the company to Honeywell in 2001 and is presently a consultant in the field.
